Funding

The Train to Gain scheme is designed to meet the skills shortages of YOUR business.

The campaign is designed to enable women to attain a full Level 3 qualification. This part-funded skills training targets:

  • Women returning to work after a career break
  • Women in sectors where they are under-represented at supervisory and management level (wholesale, retail & trade; real estate, renting & business admin; health & social care; education; public administration; leisure, travel & tourism)
  • Women in sectors where they are under-represented as a whole (business & finance; engineering; manufacturing; construction, transport; logistics and ICT)

There are literally thousands of Level 3 courses available, covering all sectors, and range from management and leadership courses, to very specific skills training directly relevant to the operations of your business.

The scheme offers funding for this training no matter what level of education they may currently have and the LSC’s contribution varies from 42% - 75% dependent on sector. These are shown below. However, should the training provider not wish to charge the employer contribution, funding can reach 100% in some sectors:

Target Sectors 1

Engineering; Manufacturing; Construction; Transport; Finance.

Target Sectors 2

Health, public services & care; Agriculture horticulture & animal care; hair & beauty.

Target Sectors 3

ICT; Retail & commercial enterprise; Hospitality; Leisure; Travel & Tourism; Business Administration & the law; other sectors.

If you have women employees working in London and feel that both they and your business can benefit from such training, a Skills Broker (specific to your sector) can advise on the right courses & training provider at a time and place to suit your business.
